Are You Looking Forward to FabTech 2011?

Bishop-Wisecarver will be among some 1,200 exhibitors at the upcoming FabTech Expo, North America's largest metal industry event.

This will be our first time participating in the expo, which is expected to draw about 30,000 attendees from Nov. 14 to 17 in Chicago. That's a big crowd!

As industry leaders in guided motion technology, we're excited to be part of the action. Many of our customers create impressive applications geared for the metal industry, so we're hoping to see some imaginative booths and cool application examples! We've got a few fun demos ourself, and we can't wait to show 'em off. We'll also be giving out Ghiradelli chocolate squares, WD40 pens (no, really, a pen that is inked with WD40) and other BWC swag.

Lots of companies use the expo as a platform to show off their latest greatest technologies, like a gas-cooled robotic welding torch from Dinse Inc. or Robotiq's three-fingered gripper robot! Oo, even Torchmate's new generation of robotic metal cutters.

We perused YouTube for videos from last year's trade show and found this one (right) of a plasma cutter that uses linear guides to move a metal-melting gas nozzle with precision. Slick!

In addition to the exhibits, FabTech hosts several seminars, including one led by Dr. Chris Kuehl, an economic analyst for the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Int'l, on how manufacturing can lead us out of the recession. Interesting topic -- what do you think?

We'll post photos and more from our trip since we will be tweeting from ground zero. If you're going, be sure to swing by our table at Booth No. 5133!
