Our Weekly List of Top Ten Twitter Posts - Week 42


Better late than never! Each week we find interesting photos, websites, products and news on Twitter -- from fantastic shares by the people we follow or bits we discover on our own, these gems are definitely worth of another good share.

1. "The Divided Brain" on YouTube: The new RSAnimate features psychiatrist and writer Iain McGilchrist who explains how our 'divided brain' has profoundly altered human behavior, culture and society. Entertaining and enlightening!


2. "The Five Greenest Airports in the World" on Solar Feeds: These giant architectural marvels are amazing! Very cool and very green! Give it a look!


3. "Quantum Levitation" on YouTube:This will blow your mind! Check out this video on quantum levitation courtesy of the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

4. "You know you're an engineer when..." on ThinkGeek: Time to nerd out! This 3-inch round button is one of many hilarious items about engineering from one of the best geeky gadget stores on the web... "You know you're an engineer if you have no life and can prove it mathematically."

5. "Let's Toss Some Punkins!" on Solid Works: Check out this cool video by Solid Works on the annual Pumpkin Chunkin' festivities! Great simulation example using their program.

6. "Is the Internet Making Engineers Dumb?" on the Engineering Exchange: The internet is a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but do you think the web makes engineers dumb? Great topic for discussion by a talented writer at the Engineering Exchange. Check it out!

7. "Automating the Glass-Treatment Process" on The Engineer in the UK: Check out this great application story of a linear actuation system enabling Dibro (a Liverpool-based company specializing in decorating glass bottles) to increase productivity.

8. "How Can We Attract Youth to Manufacturing Careers? " on the Bishop-Wisecarver Daily: This article brings up a great question: How do we attract today's youth to jobs in manufacturing? The article suggests that we need to change their perceptions, and show students that great career opportunities do exist. What do you think?

9. "Study Illustrates Skills Gap in Manufacturing" on Plastic News: The article reminds us that unemployment levels are still above nine percent, but pokes questions at why 600,000 manufacturing jobs remain unfilled. Where are our skilled machinists, machine operators, crafts workers and technicians? A great read.

10. "This Picture Has Nothing to do with Manufacturing…" on the Bishop-Wisecarver Daily: The article talks about a photo posted on The Huffington Post about innovation in manufacturing. The writer says, "It reinforces every negative stereotype that our industry struggles to rise above." What do you think?
